Re: For those running a G5X-2 or G5X-3 cam... (ericwf1)
If I didn't drive in stop and go traffic for 70 miles a day during the summer months (wife is a teacher so I drive the vette daily in the summer) I'd be all over the G5x3.
For me, even the MMS 224v3 was too much of a pain in my Camaro SS in traffic.

Very happy with G5X-3 (114). Lou & Jeremy did a great tune job. The 950rpm idle is just right. Besides, can hardly complain about 395.2RWHP/373.8RWTQ on 2001 C5 Coupe, A4 (3.42) w/OE Heads.
Re: For those running a G5X-2 or G5X-3 cam... (Cobra4B)
G5-X2 is my main mod for next year! I mainly road race and want to maintain the broadest powerband possible short of stroking the car.
Excuse my ignorance but I'm not sure what your application of "road race" means?
The G5X-3 has a broad powerband, evidenced by...
Here is the power stick...
The Pro LG Long Tubes provided the low-mid power, before the G5X-3 was installed, and afterwards the cam still provided good low-mid gains with awesome mid-high gains. I love the power of my C5 on the hwy. Besides, the Vig2800 gets me up into the powerband quickly from a dead-stop.
Re: For those running a G5X-2 or G5X-3 cam... (Cary)
road race as in HPDE's at VIR and Road Atlanta. I don't want a cam that makes all it's power at 5000 to 6800. I want power from 2000 on, but the nice jump at 4000. The G5-X2 will come on a bit earlier than the G5-X3 and I won't have to always tach the car out to 6800 to use the power.
I've been thinking about the G5X3 cam or the Cartek X3 cam. Have any of you taking your car to the track since intalling your cam? If so what did it run?

With a 6spd you dont need to go as low as 2000rpms.

When I posed the same question to LG for my new project, he suggested an X3 on 112LSA, essentially the same bottom end hp/tq as the X2, but pulls longer and harder up top. That's what makes the X3 feel like it comes in later, the extra power from 3-4k on up. The issues with the tighter LSA are the required piston notching and slightly rougher idle. If you have milled heads you need to be a little more careful about P/V clearance.
The car is not a daily driver, with a 6 spd and 3.42 rear end it is not ideal for traffic. The car runs just fine in traffic, but the extra feathering of the clutch and gas get tiresome.
I am planning to do 4.10 rear end which should be a perfect combo with the G5X2, will get me right into the power band, and decrease effort while driving in traffic.
