problem putting cheapy plugs in my c5 for some testing?
i want to see if my plugs are giving me problems. They sell a BOSCH-SUPER that is .99 and they say its for the vette. I want to throw them in do some cyl. misfire testing then maybe take it to the track. I have an ever so slightly rough idle and i dont recall if i had it stock. Im wondering if maybe my mech cracked a plug when he did my clutch and pulled the header off. he seems like a very careless person IMO. Anyone know the resistance of the stock wires?
Thanks

The Bosch plugs Bosch shows for the C5 are:
HR8DPX PLATINUM PLUG Gap=.060
4305 PLATINUM2 Do not Gap
4458 PLATINUM+4 Do not Gap
4205 PLATINUM PART Gap=.060
The cheapo copper plugs are very likely to perform better than the platinums in terms of power, smoothness, and fuel efficiency, if you use the right temp plugs. I've heard WAY more bad things about platinum plugs than good. Sure they don't corrode, and if cleaned periodically, could have a 100,000 mile service life, but notice that I said if cleaned periodically. Since any plug will get dirty over time, to keep it performing well you'll have to take them out occasionally. If you're doing platinum to avoid maintenance, I'm afraid you're wasting your money. I've accepted that my plugs are going to come out occasionally, and only moved away from copper when I heard Iridium plugs can provide more spark and also more corrosion resistantance.
Anyway, about Platinum, do a search and you'll find some stories about people pulling their plugs only to find that some of the tips were missing!

Used those Bosch cheapo's in my old LT1 Camaro. Made a major difference over worn out stockers. Ran smooth with em.
all wires ohmed out ok at 360-365 ohms. The nice suprise was finding 2 denso iridium plugs and 6 ac delco plugs in my car. They all look good, but they are being swapped for some testing.

you might want to look for exhaust leak.............that will cause a miss, ruff idle. he did take the header off? did he put in new gaskets? start the engine up get it hot. turn it off, wait till the next morning then go around and tighten all the nuts.
he took the header off but didnt use a new gasket. THe gaskets are a spring steel i dont know if that'd be a problem. i dont hear or see any exhaust leaks though
