Default Pacesetter long 'shorty' headers?

http://www.pacesetterexhaust.com/corvette.htm
70-1341 97-00 Corvette, 5.7L, Shorty Header 389.95

Wondering if anyone tried these, they're 1-5/8", but they look longer than other shorty headers.

I've had a bad experience with Pacesetter shorties on my C4, the surface which bolts to the heads was warped. Leaked real bad no matter what we tried. Returned them for a full refund, but shipping costs and the take of, putt on, take off, was a royal pain.

Personally, I'd stay away form Pacesetter.

We sell Pacesetter Fbody components, and their quality is definately improving. That being said I don't know if the vette headers are any better than previous versions. Are you located near a dyno? I would be willing to give a good discount to someone who wants to before & after test them

I'm near Newtech Performance, he has a dynojet. Are you sure my results would be relative? I'm assuming since they're shortys they're CARB certified. I'm smog legal except for the D1SC.

This is my before dyno file: http://www.baseframe.com/images/RunFile_311.drf

Don't assume that they are CARB certified. Call the MFG and get the CARB#. Hopefully they have one. My B&B shortys came with CARB# sticker.

I did not think they had a CARB# but I checked the website just to be sure: http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/aftermk...es/amquery.php

Surprisingly, they were certified as of 6/1/04 (near the bottom of the very long list): http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/aftermk...rmktdevice.php

They carry CARB# D-439-6 and are legal for the 97-02 C5, excluding the Z06.

I would not choose them over the B&B shorties, even without the quality questions, as they use 1 5/8 tubing as compared to 1 3/4 tubing for the B&B.

I think they look longer in the picture because of the smaller diameter tubing but I would venture to guess that the B&B is longer because they appear to incorporate larger radius bends in their tubing. The point at which they terminate is the same because all shorties bolt directly to the stock intermediate pipe.

I have heard of some people passing visual smog with a D1 because the D1 internals were in a P1 head unit.

By the way, I saw you and your blue machine at Nicks about a week and a half ago. Pretty good numbers for stock manifolds

The tubes did look longer, I suppose it is optical illusion due to 1-5/8" tubes. I'll save up some money and buy 1-7/8" LT/Random cat setup. I'll keep the stock setup around for smog checks.

I remember your white vert pulling up as we were finishing up on the dyno.
