Default Engineering question on overboosting the SC LS1 engine...

Let's revisit the problem we all have with these ATI blowers, overboosting beyond 6 psi. After spending 2 hours searching the web for anything that would be helpful, I'm at a loss. Why can't someone provide a mechanical pressure relief valve to bleed off boost above 6 psi. Something like a simple poppet valve on the high pressure side. If the valve could maintain the boost at a set level the problem of broken engines would be a non-issue. Now, we know there is no reason for the tuners help here as they benefit from our lust for horsepower once it blows, by building us new engines(this not meant to insult anyone). But realistically speaking the BOV relieves pressure on decelleration. An additional relief valve to protect at high rpm seems elementary. Has anyone found a usable part at Grainger or McMaster Carr or know of a suitable part. How much would it have to flow to draw off, let's say 3psi (from 6psi to 10psi) maintaning 5-7 psi max.
Even the electronic HKS systems really don't address SC applications.

HKS (Japanese performance parts manufacturer) used to sell Pop-Off valves. They were available in different spring settings to do exactly what you describe, they "pop" open if the pressure raises beyond a predetermined pressure.

Years ago CART used to issue pop off valves to Indy Car teams before each race, to prevent the turbo charged cars from producing too much boost, limiting power available.

I wonder if these can still be obtained? It really is a great idea.

I spoke with Procharger and they tell me it can't be done without power loss. Part of the issue is the violent release of boost when the pop off valve reaches it break point. It would nice to have a valve that would bleed off boost gently. Another idea is to have an elastic bladder to absorb the boost over 6 psi. But where could you place someting like that?
