Default Help with securing a Halltech TRIC intake

Really like the intake, but it has come loose twice now where it attaches to the MAF. It can't fall all the way off onto the road, but it tilts down so air can go straight into the MAF through the gap.
Anyone else ever have this problem? The 2 band clamps holding it on are so tight now that they will break or crush the MAF, they won't go any tighter. I think the weight of the unsupported tunnel tube and filter make it tilt down and off, when going over a hard bump.
I am thinking to just put a long ty-rap around the filter element and attach it to the shroud with this ty-rap? Any other ideas?

CJS,

Wow. I've installed my Tric about 10 times on two different Z06s and never had that problem.

Some things to check (1) you may have some stray lubricant on the connection that makes it slippery, or (2) the connection is not fully seated when you tighten it; or (3) the clamps just aren't tight enough.

One other thought. When cutting the shroud on mine, I used the template that came with the Tric to get a precise position and configuration for the hole. If the hole is not correct, that could put pressure on the connection.

Ranger, thanks for the tips. I think I found the problem though. There are 2 band clamps. I had the top band clamp on good over the MAF flange. But I had the lower band clamp positioned up to high and it was too close to the MAF flange and not tightening on anything, only the red plastic coupler hose. And so it was actually trying to pull the red coupler off of the MAF!
But I do now know how the car runs through an open MAF! Ran
crappy with surging, bad idle and made unpleasant sound at WOT. I had always wondered how it would run like that!

Not exactly sure of the difference between the Tric and the Trap (which is what I have) but I think I'm goin to run out to the garage and check my connections.
