I have had a stange thing happening lately. There are times when neither directional signal will work at all. The next time I use the car the signals work perfectly. Has anyone had this problem or knows what causes it??? I called the Chevrolet dealer and they said they can only check it when it doesn't work. It has only happened twice but it does concern me.
Thanks!!
It's the 4 way flasher. Next time it happens, turn the hazzard flasher on & off a few times. Unfortunately, the dash has to be taken apart to get at it. Another of those known problems.
Chances are very good that the problem is your flasher, as stated by sasunlover. The flasher is a single unit that sits immediately behind your hazard button on the center of the dash. They have a tendency to slowly die.
If your car is still in warranty, no biggie. If not, I did a brief how-to not too long ago here on the forum on how to get it out, without taking off the dash. That process is a little brute force, and I'll see if I can find it here in a minute. I think the part was about $35.
Update: the new search engine on the forum rocks! However, I'm guessing that not all past posts are yet indexed, as I can't find my post. It wasn't too long ago, maybe in the last few months, so hopefully it'll be searchable in the next few days.

You may have an indicator bulb that is dying. If a bulb burns out or breaks the resistance is lower and the flasher no longer operates. Check your bulb before pulling apart the dash.
