Default Difference In Tuners

I was wanting to learn how to tune my car on my own. But was wondering why most people just don't buy a tuner and do it themselves. Is it possible to buy a tuner and basically teach yourself how to do it all? Any help or any ideas would be great. Also, if you can, what tuners would be best to use.... Predator, LS1Edit, etc.?

you might try looking in the "C5 Scan and Tune" section of this forum.

Hp Tuners and LS1Edit are currently available as far as actual Editors go. With these you can make changes to various tables in the PCM. Soon EFILive Flash/Scan will be available.

You will need a scanner to monitor parameters ( Timing,RPM, MAP. Fuel Trims etc.) Autotap, Ease and EFILive are available as stand alone scanners. HP Tuners includes a scanner with their Editor. Most of us Prefer EFILive's Scanner.

Check out the "Scan and Tune" section regularly and the "PCM and Diagnostics" section on LS1Tech.com.

Here's a link to a decent thread on Tuning info ->http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=124186

Good Luck.
