2000 Coupe, 24K miles: Recently I found one of my front wheels is leaking air. Yes I said wheel! Under water it was discovered a small crack about 3/4 inch on the horizontal face of the wheel (toward the outside edge). I have factory polished aluminum wheels. The wheel has not been damaged in anyway. Going to start talks with dealership/GM on getting them to give me a new one. I believe year 2000 was the first year for the thinner spoke wheels. Anyone heard of, or had any wheel problems??
UPDATE: I spoke with the dealership's service manager who spoke with his GM Rep: The Rep is going to give me a new wheel. He didn't even ask to see it first or anything. I think GM knows of a problem with these wheels. Maybe it could be the new 2000 year wheel style is not quite right. But that at least makes me feel better if I have problems in the future with any others.

Is the crack on the barrel of the wheel? Is it visible? How long havwe you had this slow leak problem? Because based on the age of the car I don't see The General stepping up to the plate here. I would not have any problem having this wheel repaired however as long as the other three are in good condition. I don't think your looking at a safety issue unless there are more undetected cracks. I am sure that this crack can probably be TIG welded on the inside or even Braised but the heat may damage the finish. In any case good luck and let us have a follow up to see how it turns out
