Default Best Clutch, Flywheel, N Install?

Personal Options needed... What's the best clutch out there? I'll be using the vette 80% daily driverand 20% road racing. I drive alittle more on the agressitive side so I want performance. BUT... I don't have much money to be re-placing it every other run. I was surprised how fast the stock one wore down.

Anyways my ideas so far were...

A SPEC performance clutch that's good up to 650rwhp.
I used that brand in my Trans am... but I drive a vette now, seems like there is more out there for it. What's the best for road racing?

Also I'm going to get a Aluminum light weight flywheel and ether a B&M or Hurst short shifter. Best pricing?

Also... what's a good install price... I always do it myself... but I may be real close on time to get this done. Thanks!

I would go with the SPEC Stage 3 X-pad for your use. It's a great daily driver clutch and takes the abuse when it is put to the test. It's good for 700fwtq.

The Stage 3 will run ya $400 with free shipping, the aluminum spec flywheel w/ wear plate is $369 with free shipping.

You should pay in the $300-400 range for the clutch install, it's definitely not brain surgery

Let me know if you have any questions - 973-340-4069 I'll be happy to chat.

How much power does it have to hold? Best clutch out there -still new and not a ton of data...but still undisputed is the Exedy Twin Disk- Cha-Ching$$$$$

Don't need the Twin, save some coin- Exedy Single Disk-

Ram, Spec, Mcleod have lots of feedback if you do a search. Each has its ups and downs.

I almost went with the Spec 2/3 Hybrid but so many reports of chatter pushed me to look further. I went with a Luk Gold stage 2. Rated to hold 565lbs of tqe. Its still in my dining room, and so I can't give you first hand info, but those who have installed it all rave of the stock feel/pedal pressure and faster revs of the fidenza flywheel.

Install- rough target $500, depending upon MC install.

B&M or Hurst pricing- check out LAPD or Extreme. I think you can usually pick one up for $160ish.

I would probably go with something like the Spec if your wanting to keep the price down. We sell the stage 3 on special for $399.99, and you could also throw a aluminum Fidenza flywheel on it for $320!!!

I'm starting to feel good about doing my homework. Looks like most of you like the SPEC brand. Well, I'm gunna find best pricing and do it later today. Can't wait!

Best is definitely the Exedy but it's about 2x more than a Spec + flywheel.

I gotta agree with Mark. Do a search on Spec Clutch and for every good one ( and there are plenty that really like them), there is another that says unbearable chatter or no spec warranty or fried in a few passes, or impossible to balance - whatever the complaint, I found far too many negatives to gamble $750 plus install on a clutch that might not be in my car for more than a thousand miles.

I've never used Spec, so I'm not bashing it...just telling you what I found when I was looking for a clutch.

Good luck
