this is also posted under C5 General, but i just thought i would post here as well.
is it really possible that this isn't cover under the warranty or void the warranty?
my car died on sunday (it's a daily driver), at first i thought it had to do with the battery (because the car all of a sudden wouldn't start, all the electrical power was mostly gone; when the tow truck jumped it, the car started BUT after driving the car SERVICE VEHICLE SOON, ABS needs service and one other thing came up on the DIC, not to mention the car stalled several times, the needles on the tachometer went from 30mph to 0 mph and back). but when the dealer called and said that it had more to do with the body control module shutting out or not knowing when to shut out (or something along that line) or how the debris from parking the car outside got caught underneath the cowl as a result it caused some electrical malfunctioning or something.
my apologies if this doesn't make sense b/c i asked the guy to explain it to me a couple of times and being that i'm not a gearhead, i didn't quite understand him.
i sense that this is BS and i am going to call him again and have him explain it to me until i understand. it turns out that this going to be a costly repair that's not covered under the warranty. my car is a 02 and has about 28 thous miles. the car is at criswell.
Sounds like you are getting run around the corner. If you did no mods to the car that caused the problem, then the warranty should cover the repairs. Unless you caused the part to fail, intentionally, they can not sustain a denial. If you packed the computer with wet debris then you are out of luck, if they could prove that. In short, tell them to fix the bloody car and stop jerking you around.

Take it to a different dealer. They are trying to screw you. Call Chevrolet customer service. Stealerships get paid more with non-warranty repairs, hence the reason they're trying to snowball you.
