Engine removal and leaving the ac intact
I'm removing my engine to do some internal work on it. I was looking through the service manual and one of the steps was to recover the coolant and then to remove the ac lines from the compressor. My question is, has anyone removed the engine from the bottom and been able to remove the ac compressor while keeping the lines intact?

I'm sure you can find a way to do it like you're asking, but at great risking of breaking one of your lines. If you're worried about recovering the a/c coolant, I wouldn't sweat it. It's not like R12, it won't hurt the environment if you release it. It's mostly gas and a couple ounces of oil. A refill costs $20-30 from the Zone.

While this may not be applicable to you, I removed my engine from the top and left the compressor (and attached lines) in place with no sweat (except for forgetting to bolt the compressor bracket to the block before I reinstalled the engine- that was a real pain).
