Default Is adding an LS6 intake manifold worth doing?

Does it add a noticable amount of power?

Don't bother unless you have H/C.

If you're doing headers on a '00- car, the manifold has to come off anyway. Might as well spend the $300 and go for the LS6 manifold. Otherwise, I don't think it makes much difference.

A couple of things from someone that did it with just bolt ons. Yes, you will notice gains in the order of 7-10hp and ONLY on a car built from 97-sometime in 01 when they changed to all LS6 manifolds. When I put headers on my car I kept the LS1 manifold and got good gains from the headers. Then I put an LS6 manifold and got better gains.
The short story is I went from 316rwhp to 347rwhp with headers and LS6 intake manifold. For only $350 and about 2 hours of work it's not a bad investment and if you plan on doing more down the road it will continue to pay off.
I don't understand why you have to remove the intake manifold to install headers though. I have put 4 sets of headers on and never had to remove the intake manifold.

For the AIR tube.... It might be a requirement specific to the LG Pro headers... Lou basically said: "Eh, we gotta take it off, anyway...."

So I replaced it with the LS6.

I'd say it's almost worth it to get rid of the 2000-2500 RPM part throttle whistle.

Hmmm... That may be. I never did LG's. Did SW's, TPIS, and Kooks. So LG removes the AIR when installing headers?

We've seen good results from the LS6 intake. We sell them for $360, so its a pretty good price mod also

But still over $400.00 with the (required) coolant pipe, plugs and shipping. Those single digit horsepower gains don't exactly come cheap!

I installed a LS-6 intake before doing cams and heads and didn't feel much at all. It is worth the trouble when you do make other mods..Just wait when you do the H/C swap.

Corvette fever had a good article in the Sept. issue where they ran a stock, Z06, and fast intake on a stock (dyno headers only) LS1 on the dyno, then installed a popular (small) cam and ran them again.

Pretty good info. Get to see hp and torque gains across the curve.

I think it's worth it. FWIW, I paid around $600 to have one put in last year. 'Noticeable' .. That really depends on how you define 'noticeable' .. If by noticeable you mean SOTP, I would say not really, will you see an extra 1 MPH in the 1/4 mile -- most likely.. All of these mods help .. I would do LT headers and Z06 intake -- that will definitely be a great SOTP improvement.

Good luck,

Mark

I thought there was a noticable SOTP difference with the ls6 intake. I'll have dyno numbers shortly...

I gained two tenths in the quarter untuned from LS6 intake only (well I had a VR velocity stack also, if that matters)
