If you're doing headers on a '00- car, the manifold has to come off anyway. Might as well spend the $300 and go for the LS6 manifold. Otherwise, I don't think it makes much difference.

The short story is I went from 316rwhp to 347rwhp with headers and LS6 intake manifold. For only $350 and about 2 hours of work it's not a bad investment and if you plan on doing more down the road it will continue to pay off.
I don't understand why you have to remove the intake manifold to install headers though. I have put 4 sets of headers on and never had to remove the intake manifold.

For the AIR tube.... It might be a requirement specific to the LG Pro headers... Lou basically said: "Eh, we gotta take it off, anyway...."
So I replaced it with the LS6.

We've seen good results from the LS6 intake. We sell them for $360, so its a pretty good price mod also

But still over $400.00 with the (required) coolant pipe, plugs and shipping. Those single digit horsepower gains don't exactly come cheap!

I installed a LS-6 intake before doing cams and heads and didn't feel much at all. It is worth the trouble when you do make other mods..Just wait when you do the H/C swap.

Corvette fever had a good article in the Sept. issue where they ran a stock, Z06, and fast intake on a stock (dyno headers only) LS1 on the dyno, then installed a popular (small) cam and ran them again.
Pretty good info. Get to see hp and torque gains across the curve.
