When I start driving my car I see that the steering wheel is loose no matter what direction I point it to. I mean that when I turn the steering I can tell that it is moves freely for about 20 degrees angle before it starts turning the front wheel.
However, after about 30 minutes of driving it tightens up, although still not as tight as a normal. I think this happens because some components expands from heat & that tightens it up.
My dealer wants to replace some parts in the steering rack, or probably the whole steering rack kit. This would cost me some serious $$$$.
Would the problem be in the steering rack? Tie rods? or could un-even front tire wear cause this?
