Default 97 coupe Oil Pressure running high

I've recently noticed after getting my oil changed (Of course MB1 Synth) that my oil pressure is at 80psi and higher depending on speed. I never really paid much attention before, but this is too high..RIGHT?

another question...does analog guage control what appears on the DIC? I've read another thread that said the oil pressure sensor could be bad..but would the guage and the DIC be the same?

I would think the answer to the guage question is that both the guage and the DIC readout are controlled by the same sensor (since there is only one). Sensors unfortunately go bad with some regularity. The symptom is "pegged" pressure readings. Mine was replaced by the dealer when I purchased the car (used from Corvette specialty reseller). I noticed the high reading on the test drive. Shop manual (and many others on this forum) indicate it is a relatively easy replacement. Only thing that is a pain is moving the intake about 6 inches to gain access.

I'd say there is a 99.9% chance that your problem is a bad sensor.
