Hey yall,
I've got a 2001 C5 Coupe and I'm looking for a cheap set of 17" rear wheels that I can mount some Nitto DR's for the drag strip...I'm running the chrome wheels (whatever the $1000 option on a new C5 is) for my daily driver tires, but I definitely don't want to buy a couple more of these just to beat around on the strip, so I was wondering if any of you all had a recommendation (including approximate price) for a cheaper 17" wheel that will serve my purpose nicely?
Speaking of offset...I have to drive about an hour to the track (reason I'm going with drag radials and not true slicks), and I know the offset for the 17" front wagon wheels is different from that of the 18" wheels that are meant to go on the rear...So would it be alright for me to run the 17" silver wagon wheels as rear tires for the drive to the track and then the races, or would this cause some sort of damage to my car?
I have a pair of 17 x8.5 painted wagon wheels that I used to have with drag radials. I now am using 16" firebird wheels w/ ETStreets.
The 17's are the same that came standard on the front of 98-99 Corvettes. Just like the ones on the pic of my '99. They worked fine on the back onf my '99 for the drag strip.
$150 plus shipping for the pair of rims only. Can send you a pic later if you like.
