Has anyone used this? It is Kent-Moore part# J 28467-B and is used in conjunction with J 41803 Engine Support Fixture. I have the Kent-Moore catalog and have a drawing of the J 28467-B but no clue how it is used. I think it goes together and mounts onto the shock strut towers, but they are pretty close to the front of the motor. I can see how this fixture could support the front of the motor, but how is the rear of the motor supported? Or is it not? I want to remove the oil pan to get at the rod bolts and according to the Service Manual, this fixture could be used to support the motor in-situ and would negate having to remove it to change things like the oil pan, the motor mounts, etc. Can anyone give me an explaination as to how this thing goes together? Thanks
Hi,
The whole drivetrain is mounted with only the engine side mounts and the single mount under the differential. You need to support the engine before removing the front suspension cross member, which will remove the front mounts, to give you access to the pan. You can do this by using a shop crane from the top or the Chevy tool. I haven’t used the Chevy tool but the pictures look like it is a way to replace the front mounts.
Good luck,
Steve
