Help (Knocking)
I was at the dyno getting my car tuned after my Dynatech header install. We had a lot of problems getting the car tuned. The first pull I knew the car would be running really rich. I think the A/F was 10.2 across the whole range. During each pull the car was getting knock around 3.9 -1.5 from 3900 – 6500.
1. Before going to the dyno I modified the IFR to slightly negative. I had +14 from the Vararam install.
2. Filled up with 94 octane gas.
After getting the A/F dialed in at 12.6 the car would still knock. I checked the car for anything hitting against the tunnel. I didn’t bring the graph home but the car would change to a rich condition at 3900 and start detecting knock. The funny thing it was not pulling any timing when knock was occurring. I didn’t make a difference on what A/F I was at the car would knock in the same spot.
When I get home tonight I was put new plugs in just to be on the safe side. I was thinking of cleaning the MAF just incase it has any oil on it from the Vararam. Has anyone cleaned their MAF? Could I use a contact cleaner from RadioShack?
