Swapping 422 engine into new car, tuning concerns...
As some of you know, I'm going to be moving the MTI 422 engine into a new show vehicle in the next few weeks. I'll be returning the pace car to a stock, low mileage engine and will be selling it shortly afterwards.
That being said, I wanted some input on what is going to be needed as far as tuning is concerned on these vehicles. Once an original LS1 is put back into the pace car, what do I need to return the tuning to stock on it?
Also, what do I need to do to tune the new one. I have LS1 edit (2 licenses possibly available), but fear it may be a little more than I want to tackle, so may have to take it in somewhere for a dyno tune. The engine is going from a 98 AT to a 97 6spd.
I'm in Greenville, SC fwiw. I'd like some ideas on the smoothest transition. I feel competent enough to do the actual engine swap myself, but don't know the best way to tackle the tuning. Ie, would it be safe to start both cars before tuning is done if the swap was made?
Looking for input!
Thanks,
Josh
