We are getting ready to swap my buddies C5 from a 2.73 to a 3.42 differential. He got an awesome deal on Ebay for the differential because the seller listed the diff as a 3rd member and evidentally, no one could find the item
Thats actually a 02-present Z06 differential. 3.42SP . Do you want your money back or even double ? Anyway good luck on the install you got a great deal.
Thanks for the replies!! I'm not sure I see what is wrong in those last two pics... Could someone point it out? Oh well, if it is bad or something, it's only $127.00.
there is a dome shaped cover that should of hidden the star shaped piece with it's 8 attachment screws; shown in the above pics.
then on a more outside diameter, you can see 8 more "vacant" holes where the bolts that secure the missing cover would of been.
But in other pics from that EBay ad, it shows the cover installed. In this pic the installed cover is at the top. Even if it's defective in some way; it probably is still worth $400 as some vendors are willing to give for 3 series carriers.
I didn't mean to get you all worried about it. Was kinda funny that I had seen thesame ad and was close to bidding on it myself.
Mike, you seem very familiar with the rear units....I have seen a few opened up and they all had letter/numbers on the gear/assemblies. is there any significance to these...like clearances or something like that. more for knowledge/information than anything else at the moment. thanks, tom
Mike, just tried to post but it never showed..will try again. You seem familiar with them and do you know what the writing indicates on the gear/bearing components....i have seen 3 or 4 opened up and they all seem to have some sort of info writen on them. just courious on what it means/indicates. thanks tom
Well Mike, not exactly the rear I was talking about....but the pics on the one from the ebay phots shows some paint/wax crayon lettering on the gear case assembly parts. I was woundering what they indicated.
