Ok I need some help from any of the forum Gurus. My Vette gave me a Traction Control System Failure Warning today so I checked the code and it turned out to be C1288 in the TCS module. I referenced that against the spreadsheet I have telling me all of the codes and it doesn't match with any. Can anyone help me decipher what is wrong with the TCS system?

C1288 is set when the Electronic Brake Control Module (ECBM) receives inputs from the steering wheel position sensor that are our of range.
The Vehicle Stability Enhancement System (VSES) is activated by the ECBM when the calculated desired yaw rate (from your speed, steering wheel position, and lateral acceleration) and the actual yaw rate becomes too large.
The steering wheel position sensor supplies two inputs "Phase A" and "Phase B" to the EBCM. These two input signals are approximately 90 degrees out of phase. By interpreting the relationship between the two inputs the EBCM can determine the position of the steering wheel and the direction of the steering wheel rotation.
C1288 is set when:
- Both Phase A and Phase B are greater than 4.9 volts for 1.6 seconds.
or
- Both Phase A and Phase B are less than 0.2 volts for 1.6 seconds.
or
-The difference in changes in Phase A and Phase B is greater than 35.2 degrees for 9.76 milliseconds
To test the steering wheel position sensor it would be helpful to have a scan tool and a Service Manual.
Mapman, thanks for the information!! Where in the world did you find that info? I've got a list of the codes but apparently not a complete list. Now it's got me wondering what caused any of that to happen. I reset the code last night and drove it around and never could get it to reappear so I'll just have to keep my eye on it. If it continually happens I may have to take into the dealer.
I've got an EBTCM you can have if it is the same one. Mine is off a 99. I thought it was my problem but it wasn't. These are around $400 new. I'll get the #'s off it tonight. Andy

Info is out of the GM Corvette Service Manual. Money well spent IMO. Even if you don't work on the car yourself, the narrrative system descriptions give you a lot of insight as to how the system is supposed to work.
The manual also gives you a heads-up as to the dealers repair estimates. You can see what all is involved. I got mine from Fichtner, a Corvette Forum Sponsor.
