Default headlight bulb installation questions

Hi,

Could someone please tell me how to replace my stock headlight bulbs with the Sylvania Silverstars I just purchased? The more detail the better. Thanks, in advance.

ok,

you will need a t-15 torx, and a phillips screwdriver.

popup the headlights, then remove the black housing, and then take off the headlight cover. then you'll just reach in behind the bulbs, twist the bulb, and disconnect from the socket. replace with your new bulbs, twist back in, and make sure its seated correctly, and your done! Of course, put the plastic housing and cover back on

Good advise, but since I just did this exact procedure this past weekend, allow me to elaborate on two points.
  1. After removing the 3 philips screws from the black housing, slide the top edge out toward the front of the car, then the whole assembly will lift out freely. There is a hidden retainer tab at the top edge which you can snap off if you don't know it's there.
  2. Do not touch the glass surface of the new halogen bulb. Surgical gloves make it easy.
The Silverstars are a nice (and easy) upgrade. Enjoy!

It really helps to take off the cover!

Lots of good tips from the folks above, and here's some pictures to put it in context: http://temp.corvetteforum.net/c5/ste...all__ver3.html.

Just follow steps 1-4 and you'll have enough room to reach behind the back of the stock light fixture.

I didn't even remove the headlight cover (step #4 in the above link). I just took off the black trim piece, opened up the hood and reached in sideways to pull off the wiring harness and twist the light out. Put the new one in, twist in the opposite direction, and plug in the harness. Once I did one side and took some time with it, the passenger side took maybe 3-5 minutes.

Same here... just remove the black trim piece. You can look thru the headlamp to line-up the new bulb so your're not back there blindly banging it into things... Easy install... but I think I am going to go with the euro lenses.
