Help someone...
My 97 only blows cool air from the passenger vents
The driver vents are room or warm air.
All modes work, it just wont get cold on the driver side...
any suggestions?
Thanks
i also have the same problem with my 98 coupe, i think it is the actuator, but if anyone can chime in and help with how much something like this would cost or total time it would take, i got qouted 5hrs at $85hr and the actuator $185 , some help would be awesome thanks
Pull the fuse for the A/C unit and replug in, the A/C system will go through an initialization routine and move all internal actuator doors to their extreme Open and Closed positions in order to calibrate the limits. Once you put the fuse back in and turn the key to Start, let the system go through this process (you should hear the actuators doing their thing). Once that is complete, if you still have problems then likely the actuator is starting to go, but I would bet it was just a memory glitch. This worked for me. Look in the manual for the exact fuses.
My '97 also started blowing warm air from the middle vents but cold air from the passenger vents. A preliminary diagnosis by the tech indicated it might be the electronic (dual-zone) control head. A new one costs $1000. Then, there's labor. He has not yet performed a complete, through diagnosis, but past experience would indicate the control unit has gond south.

I hate to admit it, but I did A/C -- Electrics for a living in the 70's, 80's and part of the 90's, then made a career move. Just wasn't familiar with the C5 setup, so I went back to my start with the basics theory.
It was a little low on freon...that fixed it. Now I'm searching for the leak!
no wars will be started but it is just nice to see one more post that said that i was right about if the c5 is low on freon it CAN cool only on one side. just pass the info along if you hear of anyone else having this problem, it is easy to check and better than wasting money on actuators and control heads.
Where is Bill Curlee................ Bill is the AC man.....sorry Bill to through more work at you. Bill helped me a TON when I had AC issues. I was able to fix it with his help.
