Default Help... Check Engine Light

Everyone:

Got home from a car show in Dallas and the "check engine" light was on on my 2004 Z06.

Last week I installed a Vararam B2, and last night installed a K&N filter to go with it. I have only put maybe 50 miles on the car since the vararam install last week. I checked all connections and everything is good. THe filter seals ... well ... as good as its gonna get...

I found a file on the forum and I figured out my codes. (Gotta Love that the forum for that ! )

1.) 10-PCM - PowerTrain Control Module
P0171 - Feul Trim System Lean Bank 1. (History)

2.) 99-HVAC - Heater, Ventilation, Air Conditioning
B0361 - Left Actuator Feedback Short to GND (Current and History)

3.) A0-LDCM - Left door control module
U1064 - Loss of Communications with BCM (History)

4.) A0-RDCM - Right door control module
U1064 - Loss of Communications with BCM (History)

Would these codes turn on my "check engine light " ?

Are they bogus faults ? Should I clear them ? Will it make my check engine light go away?

Are these REAL faults I should worry about ? Go to dealer ?

Thanks !

I got the first code on your list today and that did activate the check engine light so yes to that question. I installed the Halltech system a week ago and the other forum members were saying it is because of air coming in after the MAF sensor. I cleared my codes and the check engine light went out and hasn't come back in another 50 miles of driving. Sorry can't speak for the other codes but I'm sure others will chime in shortly.

I would just reset and see if it comes back.

Everyone:

Well I reset the codes I listed above and 1 New code showed up and another remained. Neither will reset.......

I have 2 codes now:
1.) 99-HVAC - Heater, Ventilation, Air Conditioning.
B0361 - Left Actuator Feedback Short to GND. (Code Remained)
B0441 - Left Actuator Out Of Range. (New Code after I Reset All)

Sounds like it has to deal with the Heater, Ventilation, Air Conditioning system, although the AC works great so far in the Texas heat.

Should I take this to the dealer since it will not reset ? Check Engine Light is still on !

I checked the connections to the Vararam, and reseated the gas tank cover. Nothing seems wrong with either of the above.

Thanks

The P0171 code is the only one that would turn on the "check engine" light

C5 tech:

I just sent you a PM after reading of another C5 with the same issue. I did thie before I saw your post here.

I did not "start" my car, only turned it to ON. Should I start my car to get the check engine light off ?

The above are the only 2 codes on my car.

Thanks

Everyone:

Well I went out and I noticed that my wife had the passenger side turned to all heat, and my side is as normal set to 60C. (I like it cold, she likes it hot)

I turned the passenger side to straight up and down (in the middle of hot and cold).

I then reset my 2 codes I had above (2x HVAC codes), and the codes did not re-appear as they did earlier.

Check engine light is now off.

I have NO idea if what I noticed had anything to do with it (passenger temp dial). I'll keep an eye on my codes to see if they pop up again. I'll try to see if it relates to the passenger temp dial.

I may try re-seating fuse 18/27 if this comes up again (as seen in other posts for this issue)

Thanks

I changed my entire induction system from filter to intake manifold and got the check engine light. That much air makes the system think it is running lean.

I had the car dyno-tuned (which includes setting the air/fuel mixture) and haven't had any problems since.

Everyone:

Well I took my car to work today (~40 miles driving total today). I checked the connections to the vararam, and found no leaks I can see. I did not get the Lean condition code again.

Here is a dyno graph of my car bone stock before I added any mods (5/22/04). My car was not yet broke in and only had 1200 miles. Air/Fuel ratios at the bottom. I only have 2100 miles now.

http://mysite.verizon.net/res0aae8/lgdyno/dynograph.jpg

Maybe someone can tell me if the car was running lean to begin with ?

Since the code did not return today, maybe the car learned the new air flow ?

Thanks all !
