Default oil temp o4 coupe

What is the norm oil temp for a 2004 six speed C5 coupe? Mine today was 214 and the coolant temp was only 196.. Any input would be great.
Thanks for the help

I just picked up my car today and it was 70 degrees all day and in normal driving I noticed my coolant temp was at 187 on the highway, and around 190-200 the rest of the time. My oil temp was mostly in the 180-200 range, although it hit 212 at one point. I think my car might have a colder thermostat in it though. The stock one for a 98 is supposed to be a 187 unit, but that should put my coolant temps closer to 205 on the highway I would think.

Normal, especially in city driving in hot weather.
The stock t-stat opens starts to open at about 188 degrees so that will normally be the low end of coolant temp. The fans are controlled something like:
First stage fan "on" temp: 229
First stage fan "off" temp: 222
Second stage fan "on" temp: 239
Second stage fan "off" temp: 230

So if you are moving and air is flowing throug the radiator, temps should be between 190 and mid 220s. In stop and go traffic, the fans will likely control temps per the above. Note: running AC will have fans on and drive temps down in stop and go traffic.

With these coolant temps and no oil cooler, the oil will normally run hotter than the coolant. Oil temps to as high at the 240s in stop and go driving are normal. On the track, oil temps can easily reach 300 degrees without oil coolers.
