Has anyone replaced one of these units before? My warranty ran out a while back on my 98 and besides I'm always looking at saving a few extra bucks if I can. I already had the computer reflashed and added 44K and it's still not working as it should.

I guess it would help if I was more specific, huh. I was refering to the fuel sending units that tend to constantly give erratic fuel readings on most C5s. Since the sending units can be bought from gmpartsdirect.com, thought I'd tackle the job and hopefully repair another ghost on my car.

What do you mean when you say "not working like it should"? How long has it been doing this?

I've had an erratic fuel guage, dropping to empty for several months. I've added techron, BG44k and had the computer reflash recently. I still have the fuel guage drop to empty after it gets below half a tank and the dic codes point to the fuel sending units.

If you want to replace one or both of the sending units then you should know that this may or may not fix the problem and even if it does fix the problem for a while there is no guarantee that it won't come back.

Gm has tried everything they could think of and even a major redesign of the fuel tanks and plumbing mid way thru the 2003 model year did not fix the problem.

Some seem to get lucky using one or more of the "fixes" but as for me, I just try to keep it above half full.

A couple of months ago mine acted up the instant I filled up Shell gas. I ran through that tank and filled up with Mobil and a bottle Techron and have had no problems since. fingers crossed.
