I just traded in my 97 coupe for an Z06 and I pulled the head unit out to put in the XM radio! But when I pluged the head unit back in it gave me a LOC on the radio. How do I get the radio unlocked. My 97 did not do this.
the previous owner must have programed the headunit with a code of his/her choice. I have no idea how you would go about dealing with it. I can't imagine it can be reprogramed since this is an anti-theft device, but if this the case I hope I am wrong for you sake. Might wanna try to look it up in the owners manual and see if the previous owner wrote the code down. Intructions are on page 2-12, atleast in the 99 manual.
Thanks for the info. On my 97 they did not have a security code on the radio, I pulled it out like 10 times putting different head units in. It is used, and there was no owners manual when I bought the car... What I do nto understand is why even have a security device on the radio? Who would want to steal it? It is huge and ulgy, and can not be used in anything else because if the BOSE system. I jsut called GM and they said they can do it for $20.00. I was just hoping that there is an easier way

HAHA. I totally agree. From what I can gather the only benefit to doing this is that it makes that little red light on the headunit blink, which I guess makes the car seem more secure from theft.
