Does the 2000 fuel filtering system only consist of the fuel sock in the gas tank? The regulator in the rear does not have a built in filter, correct? TIA.
There should be a canister type fuel filter/pressure regulator with a return line to the tank, on the inside of the drivers side frame rail just behind the drivers seat.

I just changed mine a couple of weeks ago(2000 Coupe). It is on the inside of the frame rail(drivers side). Jack up the rear end and look at the frame around the rear suspension and you will see it. There is a fuel line that into it from the front and another that exits from the rear. It requires that little plastic tool you can get from any auto parts store. You push it onto the line and push into the filter to unlock the line. Don't be directly underneath, some gas could spill out on you. Oh, it is a good idea before you take these lines off to depressurize the fuel system. On the fuel rail(driver side) at the end(front) you will see a cap(like a valve stem cover cap) take that off and hold a cup or something small to catch the fuel. You will need to press the stem and and air and fuel will come out. Do this until dry.
One final thing, after changing the filter, drive the car, it may die a couple of times when stopping, this is normal, just air in the lines. After a couple of restarts it will be back to normal. Hope this helps.
