my pipes are lower on the passenger side - but I haven't noticed anything jingling and when I looked didn't seen anything broken. Does anyone have any pics to show where it happened? The pipes don't seem to be loose when I touch them and try to move them.
Let me know - also, are you sure that it won't be covered by the exahaust warranty coverage?
If it is going to be a ongoing problem what exhaust should I look at going to? Not looking to spend a lot of money!!!
Believe it or not! I used JB weld putty and it works fine. Its been on there over a year now and no leakage. This also was a 98 and my dealer says that its not covered under any emissions warranty?? The epoxy putty may be more flexible than rigid steel . I don't know how but its holding up excellently??

I'd call the dealer first..every one is different but our AVM stopped covering outside 3/36 unless it was an actual converter failure.
I found a site that described the emissions law. There are two warranty periods required. The first is 2 year 24K miles which covers most items. The second is the 8 year 80K mile which only covers major items like the converter itself. If you are over the GM 3/36 it looks like you are not covered for a weld failure on the flanges.
Just took mine to the local muffler shop and they rewelded all four flanges for $70. They got the tips lined up perfectly. This shop is directly across the street from a Chevy dealer. The owner told me he gets about a half dozen referrals a month to fix this problem. Told me to weld all four flanges because based on his experience the others will go eventually. GM can't even properly weld a simple exhaust flange - I can see why they didn't coin the phrase "Quality is Job One".
