History: I spun a rod bearing, "I" removed the engine myself from the car, dis-assembled it and took it to a reputable engine builder to build the new bottom end. All new pistons, rods, crank and bolts. New cam (224, 224, 581, 114), boared .200 over, blueprinted and balanced. I then took the short block and put stage 2 heads, z06 manifold and accessories back on the engine.
Last week I did the install myself, with a little help from friends and family. I was extatic when I found that it started right up, there were NO codes what-so-ever, and it sounds MEAN.
Now my question. I am going to have it tuned by LAPD in September. I want to break it in before I go down to them, but would it be safe to put miles on the car without tuning it first? Keep in mind that there are no codes, and it runs great. I am of course driving it very conservitavely, and following the break in procedure set forth by my engine builder.

Thanks!
Did you go up alot in compression? if not you should be ok.Just keep a good watch on your temp gauge and you spark plugs. As long as you not running lean or pinging you should be fine to break the motor in. You might want to buy a wideband O2, even if you not tuning the car yourself, it acts like a little angel on your shoulder watching you fuel system for you. It make tuning simple and its good to have incase you get dirt in your injectors, filter, fuel pump dies off, ect.Congrats on your engine and good luck.
It was a fun 3 days installing my engine. I had a blast! I was a little intimidated at first with all of the wires just hanging there, but in actuality it was harder in my mind that it actually was.
