Default Z06 clutch

I recently had my stock C5 clutch changed out by the dealer under my extended warranty because the clutch pedal would stick to the floor at high rpm shifts. I've noticed that the Z06 clutch is a little heavier/stiffer than my old C5 clutch (it takes a little more work to get the car going smoothly). Is that supposed to be the case? Also, how much hp can a Z06 clutch comfortably hold? Thanks,

-Paras

I have the same and yes pedal pressure is a little more. I believe they are good for less than 500hp. Depending on use of course. If you race with heavy mods to the engine a more serious clutch would be in order.

This is odd because I just replaced my stocker with a Z06 after 77k miles and it seems WAY LESS stiff. Almost too easy to push in.

This may have to do with the adjustment tabs on the LUK clutches. I did not touch mine when I installed it.

Thanks for your comments--perhaps I can determine what its supposed to feel like with a few more comments--the dealer installed my clutch so I don't know if they adjusted anything before they put it in. Overall though, it feels good--just probably takes a little getting used to...

I don't think there is an adjustment - and it is stiffer than the regular C5 pedal, not a whole lot, just a little bit.

I just ordered a Z06 clutch and I'm hoping it is strong enough to deal with 410 RWHP. I toasted my stock C-5 clutch after only 3 months with mods. The clutch slips really bad if the traction is good. Is this normal for the C-5 clutch to go out after mods? I only have 30,000 miles on the clutch.

It should handle your HP with DRs. If you go with ET streets, it won't hold for long.

Mine is sticking to the floor now with 449hp 412tq. I had the same problem before the heads and cam but it did not stick, just very slow coming up. Silly me thought it had something to do with the active handling so I never mentioned it to the dealership before my 3/36k was up. I do have an extended warranty so I'm looking into my options. I have 36,700k miles now. I may just bite the bullit and have ECS put in a real clutch, I don't need the same problems dn the road.

Yep........ Mine lasted about 2 weeks after mod's. I put in the Z06 clutch and its been fine so far. But I have not really abused it. The old one was toast.

Just upgraded to a z06 clutch. Also installed a new upgraded z06 slave actuator and z06 master cylinder. The new slave has been upgraded over the old Z06 and pushes more fluid. My pedal pressure is lighter with the stronger clutch. If you go to the zo6 clutch upgrade the slave...supposedly improved...no more pedal stick. Also change the clutch fluid and bleed...it gets very very dirty.

If you didn't have the slave replaced, you haven't repaired your problem. With the Z clutch and slave, the pedal effort is startlingly less than the stock clutch. And make sure the fluid is replaced!
