Sears Battery Minder
A while back there was a post warning us off Sears Battery Minder, but no reason was stated.
Can anyone say why this warning was given? The Sears unit is somewhat cheaper than the "real" Battery Minder Plus, and may not be electrically equivalent.
Anybody have any hard information?

I bought a bunch of the WalMart version of the Battery Tender at $20 each. Got a half dozen. They no longer have them. They are a fully automatic 1/2 Amp when charging. Off when your battery reaches full charge and then floats.

the sears one is not as durable as the real Battery Tender. my .02

I have had a Sears battery tender since mid 99 with no problems. Its on the car all the time. Early on, after reading the "Forum" I decided the first things to do after buying a C5 is get a CLB, get rid of the stock battery, and get a battery tender of some sort. I still think that is very good advice.

I have the Sears bat tender. I got it last Jan.
Im in the Navy and have had it on my car for four mounths this year. The longest so far has been two months in a row.
I have had NO PROBLEMS with it. Car starts everytime I come home.

Huh? If you've had on your car four months this year wouldn't that be the longest so far and not two months?
