DIC says "act handling" and "traction control sys" problems
I have a 1999 A4 coupe with 30K miles. Today the DIC started flashing that the active handleing and traction control need servicing. The ABS light is also on. Is this typical on a 30k mile Vette that is rarely driven hard? Has anyone had this problem and if so how was it fixed. I wanted to get some advice before I take it to the dealer and get charged a fortune for something that might be as simple as worn out brakes, or the computer needing resetting. Thanks for the help in advance.

before you take it anywhere, pull the codes to see what you have Historic and Current. (you can find the procedures to do this in Tech Tips or doing a Search). once you write those down, then step through the DIC to reset all the codes that will reset (Current's wont reset). If Check Engine light extinguishes & AH/TC Needs Service on DIC goes away, go drive it and see if resets. If not, you're good; one of the many, many sensors in the system gliched. If not, the root code will reoccur. Write it down, post here for further assistence. Some of us have AllData DIY and other troubleshooting guidelines for our C5's thus can assist.

I had this issues also and it ended up being the wheel speed sensor - it got unplugged for some reason...
I had a wheel sensor connection on the left rear go bad and short out the speed sensor. Dealer replaced under warranty and all is good now. I don't know what the costs were. They charged 2 hours of labor to GM. Hope this helps.
This morning I fired up my car and all the DIC from yesterday was cleared, but it still had the AH disabled icon on the spedo. I tried pushing on the AH button and it didn't make a noise so I pulled that little plastic base that the AH button is on up and disconnected the plug and plugged it back in. Magically the AH button was working again and everything looks normal I guess there is nothing else for me to do unless it acts up again. I have a feeling the disconnected AH plug was the culprit.
My problem was intermittent. Some days it wasn't a problem, other days it would come on. I could turn off the car with the errors up and restart it and the errors would be gone.
Good luck tracking down your problem!!

same thing with me, I have an 01 MN6 with 24k, last year with about 19k this happened to me..I took it to the dealer (still under warranty) and they replaced an ABS brake modulator valve or something to that effect..then about 3 months ago the DIC message came up again...I pulled the codes and they were all History codes so I reset and didn't take it in and the car has been fine ever since.
I think sometimes if you hit a really bad bump, or rough road, or even have a little wheel spin (rain or something) and the system doesn;'t catch it at first, it will throw codes at you. One of my codes I think was excessive wheel spin
