Default Charge System Fault, need advise!

The battery checks our OK, but the alternator is not returning enough volts. I do have the under drive (no problems with it for a year up to now) and a few extra accessories that were not running for the NX kit put on a few weeks ago.

Anyhow, do you all recommended any heavy duty alternators and from where? Its about $170 at the local Auto Zone for a replacement, though I figure I should maybe step up to a more high performance unit.

I agree!! I went with a Delco CS 144, 175 amp alternator and everything is fine now! I did have a 200 amp, but the volts ran low because the amps was so high! I had to order a bracket from alternatorparts.com, and I got my local alternator shop to build me a 175 amp delco!

I would like to use the factory brackets, and an alternator that is ready to go, beefed up my someone else that will fit on a C5?

I could send my stock unit back as a core if needed. What do you all advise that is plug and play? I just wanted to get the car going again and figured some extra amps can't hurt from the stock 110? I wanted to upgrade my music system a little later this year anyhow.

The CS-144 170 amp version is a direct bolt-on replacement for the CS-130D. Don't let the larger case size fool you, it's the mounting holes that matter. The only thing extra you will need is the ready made adapter harness for the electrical plug. Call or e-mail them if you need more info. HTH
