Default Winter Mods

Well, I’ve finally decided that I just don’t like driving my old BMW to work every day, and I always enjoy having my Corvette waiting on me in the parking lot after a long days work, so the Bimmer is gone and I’m going to put the money towards the Corvette and buy a $500 junker to drive to work when it snows.

Anyways, I’ve been trying to plan out my mods to improve how the car handles in the turns, focusing on spirited street driving and race track. Right now I’ve got stock wheels with Yokohama AVS sport runflats with a Z51 suspension. This is the plan

-Black Z06 Motorsport wheels (18 x 9.5 fronts & 18 x 10.5 rears) I was also looking at Mallett’s 1 piece wheel, but can’t justify the price difference unless there is a major weight difference (I’ll have to look into that more). I want a set of wheels that looks good and is reasonably priced without being to heavy, since I’m ditching the runflats, I don’t think that will be a problem

-Michelin Pilot Sport PS2s (265/35R18 Front & 295/35R18 Rears)

-Hotchkins Sway bars

-Bilstein Shocks

-Hardbar’s front and rear lowering kit and camber brace (probably the aggressive street setup) (http://www.hardbar.net/page_c5suspension.htm)

-DRM Front brake ducts, Z06 rear brake ducts

-Better brake pads (currently using Hawk HPS pads, but still debating on what to replace them with, I’ll probably start using separate track and street pads but I’ll figure that out later)

for the track, I’m going to install a Sparco Evo seat with Harbar’s seat rails, I might end getting a second one and using them full time if I get to lazy to change it out for track days.

Opinions?

I aiways had a work vehicle seemed to be a great choice, never saved money on the deal but had a lot of fun with my toys. The mods will make your vette hard to leave it home. I've seen some great looking wheels but it seems every set I like is too expensive for me to consider, like some or ths HRE wheels with tires would be over 5 grand.
