I'm a new C5 owner and my 97-6 speed pops out of 2nd gear.
I have the service manuals and intend to adjust the linkage per the instructions.
Does anyone know of anything the manuals do not cover that I should know?
Any input will be appreciated before I jump into this.
I woke up this morning thinking "Lord, I didn't post last night what I think I did!"
Yep I did.
Now I know what an ingrate feels like.
My appoligies to all

Sorry I can't help on the shop manual issue but I did have a similar issue and the dealer pulled the transmission and was able to fix it under warranty without any further problems. I do remember something kind of silly and that was that one of the reps said he looked at the transmission and the slider (I think that's what he called it) and it showed that I wasn't putting it into gear far enough and that could have caused the problemj! Duh...the problem was, I couldn't PUT it into gear far enough and that was why the slider didn't go further. I think he was kind of confused on the cause and effect.
In any case, I would think that the manual would be all you need, and at least I know that the problem can be fixed.
It sounds like you're a little frustrated with the lack of response, but it's not due to a lack of friendship on the Forum. Sometimes it's just an issue that not many people are familiar with, other times those with knowledge are just not on the Forum, and at other times it's just bad timing. Also, the title often affects the response.
Good luck on the work...and if you run into another problem, just do another post.
Are you using the stock shifter? If not, which one do you have?
Sorry I've been out of town.
Stock shifter!
I did adjust the linkage per the manuals but have not gotten very good ruselts.
Going into second is very notchy (?) up or down, I must be very firm and be sure the shifter pulls past the second notch, If I'm not really firm the trans does not engage.
Thanks for your response.
