A4 - When do you know the tranny is slipping?
I am going to the track this Sunday and a bit of anxiety hoping my latest mods/power are truly realized.
With the weather, trapping 116-118mph is what I am hoping for (mods link below in sig)

I don't know about earlier models but I found out about this when I put my 3.73 gears in and the shop accidently reprogramed my car for 3.42 gears. The first time I got on a freeway it started throwing a code. I looked it up in my manual and it explained how the whole process worked.
Resetting the PCM for 3.73 gears cleared it up.
By the way, I believe that the best way to prolong your A4's life is to keep it's temps below 200.
1. Tranny fluid had an extreme "burned" odor, and appearance.
2. Tranny began to slip and hit the rev limiter at WOT, going from 2nd to 3rd, consistantly. However, the tranny would NOT slip in normal street driving, from 2-3.
3. Once you determine it is slipping as mine was...if you continue to get on it, eventually you will end up with 2nd gear available only, in extreme cases, and will have lots of trouble finding reverse, first, and even neutral...and ultimately, will only rev and hit the limiter, regardless of gear selection!
Once no. 3 happens, you get to either limp home in 2nd gear, with a very red face...or you get to call for a tow!!!
Oh, almost forgot to mention...you'll need about $2500 to $3000, for the reception party later!
Good luck!

Did everyone go with FLP IV or V when you did replace?
FLP4 seems to only be around 1800$ atm, not too bad (not including install costs just parts)

I believe that you are referring to the P0757 code.

. I know for sure with the old transmission the 2/3 clutches were done. However with the new tranny.. Have no clue! Hopefully it is only a tuning issue now.

Nope, at this party, you have to bring your own! HTH!!

It does however, sound like your 3/4 clutch pack again.(JMO) It shouldn't hit the rev limiter at all, with good clutches. Make sure your shift settings are programmed correctly first, before doing anything radical. I feel your pain, I promise you!
I paid for two out of three rebuilds myself! The first was covered by the builder's warranty(happened at about 4-5 mos)...the second was out of warranty(6.5 mos...so I had to pay)...the third time I knew I wasn't going to use the original vendor again, and I was going to get a FLP Lvl 5, but a local tranny builder convinced me that he could build a tranny that would last, and to back it up, he bragged that he would give a 12 month warranty to all who came to his shop.
So...I gave this local shop a try, and after 14 passes at the dragstrip(including some grueling burnouts with drag radials!), and 1,400 miles, it is tight as can be, with no slippage!!!
Obviously, I am very happy with this guy's shop, so far! I can tell you DFW guys what shop this is, if you want to know...but I told HIM, I would not be able to recommend his shop to anyone, unless I can get a full year out of it. He said he felt the majority of tranny problems were due to poor craftsmanship, and that he would stand behind his work 1000%. I said, yeah...right...I'm gonna come limping in here with a crippled transmission one day, and you're gonna tell me, that high performance usage is not covered! Well, he said, I wouldn't want you to come in here with drag numberes all over your car, but I promise you that the tranny will be repaired under warranty! Then, he said he wanted to expand his business into the high performance Corvette market, and knew he better be building a dam good product to do so.
All I can say is, so far so good, and this tranny has had more abuse than all of the others I've had so far! With the others, I never had drag radials...only runflats! Also no other high performance tranny builder has the ***** to offer a 12 month warranty!
FLP has a 6 mo. warranty, and Rossler will not give any warranty.
Good luck on your choice, and I'll post any issues with mine, should that dreaded scenario arise again.

Ask for Bobby(remind him he put 9 red clutches in mine, not 8)
I experienced a 3 day turnaround(He doesn't want nice cars sitting around in his shop for too long).
Mind if I ask what he charged for the work?
$2573 is what he charged me, rebuilding my Lvl 5 core, which already had a billet servo, 13 vane pump, 5 pinion planets, and some other stuff.
It might be more or less, depending on what you need/want done. I think he had to replace a bent input shaft on mine, so that may be something you don't need. Good luck...and let us know if he treats you right.
