I have began to notice a high pitch but low volume harmonic sound. Not sure when I first noticed it, but tonight I could hear it with the engine running and windows up with no radio playing and parked (not moving). I got out of the car and the sound is definately comming from under the rear wheel well...seems most pronounced on the drivers side.
Could this be related to my recent Z06/Ti exhaust or the 3.42 gears installation??
The gears don't turn unless the car is moving...right??
Any exhaust leak would be a lower rumbling sound...right??
It does not get louder when I drive ... normal exhaust/tire etc noise makes it impossible to hear.
As I said I am not sure when I first heard it so could it be something else??
Any help on this would be appreciated. I can live with the sound(play radio or drive)but I want to be sure nothing bad is happening and I would just like to know what it is!!

So its the feul pump. Is this a normal sound or does it indicate a malfunction or immenent failure???
Thanks
Mine has been doing it since I bought the car over 14 months ago and nothing is wrong with it. I can't say it is any louder than when it was new, but I don't think you have anything to worry about. Remember, the fuel system in the vette runs at 4bar or 58psi. That is a pretty beefy pump. I wonder, is it louder with the stereo on loud and no music?
You may be picking some interference up from the motor into the stereo.
