code is ........28TCS c1281.......steering sensor uncorrelated malfunction?????????????????can i fix this or is it a dealer fix....i have had it only 7 months never had it to a dealer yet....any help on this...thank you....
That sensor is located at the bottom of the steering column, have you recently seperated the steering column from the rack?
If not then the sensor may need to be replaced, if you have had the rack and column seperated this can happen if the steering wheel is allowed to turn before they are reconnected and will need to be synched using a tech II.
I've also heard of people having this code pop up after the car has sat for long periods of time, if this is the case rotate the steering wheel lock to lock several times and then drive the car for a week or so and see if the code goes away.
Either way, good luck

All I can suggest is disconnect the battery for 5 minutes. Find the sterring sensor if you can (I'm at work and can't check where it is) for loose connections.
If you are going to maintain your own vehicla, get a service manual Helms
To answer the question - this is not a simple pnp module replacement so, no, you probably wouldn't be able to do this yourself unless you're comfortable doing mid-level repairs. The steering position sensor is on the end of the steering column pictured on the lower left of the picture below.
