Default Octane Booster

I'm a little concerned about the tune I currently have and just replaced the rings on a LS6 and don't want to "take them out" with detonation.

Does octane booster really work and if so which one?

when an octane booster claims it raises octane by "5 points"... that means a zero-point-five increase of what's already in the tank.

That would equate to taking a tank of 90 octane and increasing it to 90.5

I got the same results from 104 gas, cheap octane booster and 99 cent gas treatment. the car felt like 100 hp improvement with any of these.that means i was on the edge of kr.

Depending where you are in NY, you might be able to find Sunoco GT 100 unleaded at the pump. Here's a link to locations.

I agree, I use a half bottle of torco in every tank.

Whatever you get, check the label to make sure it is unleaded. Most Octane Boosters, AMSOILs included, are for "off road use only" and contain lead, which will hurt your O2 sensors.

I've never used the Torco, but did read another thread today that said they have an unleaded Octane Boost.

thanks Macinamouth. I went to Pep Boyz trying to find it... had no luck (though I didn't ask for help).

I'd like to buy a smaller amount to try it on my S-10 pickup that pings like a mother.

Does it have anohther name on the bottle/can, other than Torco ?

It is not sold over the counter.

I can ship you a case or you can get in on the Goup purchase going on in the Forced induction section.

just buy xylene or toluene at the hardware or paint store.
it's right next to the denatured alcohol and other paint thinners.
