Default Upgrading fog lamps

I just ordered a set of PIAA 1100 series driving lamps to replace my stock fog lamps. For those of you who have done this, can you tell me how you wired them up? Did you simply use the stock fog light harness to power the driving lamps or did you use the PIAA harness along with a separate relay?

I don't have a wiring diagram available to me so I don't know if the stock fog lamps are powered by a switch-controlled relay or are energized directly via the fog lamp switch.

Any suggestions/assistance would be appreciated. Thanks.

All I did was use the harness that plugs into the PIAA Fog and cut after about 4 inches or so. Then I stripped the wires out on the harness and the factory harness. From there I sauderd the stock harness to the Piaa harness and pluged it in and done...Also on the stock bracket there is a spring loaded screw. Well the plasic peice that is holding that you will want to remove so your fog light has more room to move up and down for adjusting. Basically I didnt use much with the Piaa Kit, just the Bulbs and the harness coming from the bulb and part of the 2nd harness which plugs into the Piaa, then I tapped into that along with the stocker.

Thanks for the response Kyle. Can you tell me if the stock wiring of the car powers the fog lamps via a relay? I understand the stock fog lamps are 25 watts each whereas the PIAA's are 55 watts each, meaning they'll draw twice the current. I don't want to do this with the stock wiring unless the lamps are powered via a relay and not directly through the switch.

Can anyone else tell me or shoot me a wiring diagram for the lighting system?

Thanks again all.

I used the PIAA Harness and a seperate switch, and hooked it into the box in front of the passenger seat for power. The stock fog lights only burn when the headlights are on low beam. I wanted my PIAA's to burn all the time. The PIAA's will come on anytime the key is turned on, if the switch in on of course. I located the switch inside the console. If I had it to do over I would locate it where I can reach it while driving.

You can run your fogs with the low beams not on...I do it all the time..

I dont even have to use my low beams now since I have the Piaa's

I wired mine up to the fog relay in the relay box, passenger side engine compartment. That way you can use the factory switch. yes you need to use the relays that came with it. i didnt use the switch though.

when the search engine is working again, you can look for the good write up someone made. excellent directions.
