Hi, my 2001 MN6 is in for a service tomorrow and I think that as a precaution I will ask the dealer to instal a new battery. I have read other posts that that say that the side post battery that I have in the car is bad news because of potential leak problems.
Is it possible to instal a top post battery in place of the side post one without any rewiring? If so what are the specs of the replacement?

Thanks in advance.
You will need to buy adapters to convert to top posts. Since you are buying a new battery anyway, why not just switch to an Optima red-top. It's a sealed unit that can not leak. Generally more expensive than a normal battery, but you will probably break even when you add the cost of the cable adapters.
Is the battery in the Z06 capable of the same problems the standard C5 battery has(leaking onto computer)? I know those were the side post batterys most people replace with the Optima red top. My 04 Z has a top post battery. So was wondering if it is an improved version?
