I was considering selling my C5 to get a C6 because I have to spend 2.5K on a new tranny. Well I decided to keep the C5 and get a FLP lvl4 tranny. I have a questions for people with the FLP tranny. Do they install a shift kit in the tranny? It says they include it on tere web site. What line pressure do you run to keep it from breaking your neck on shifts. My stock tranny hurt me more than once on a hard shift.
I cant wait to get it installed. I am hoping to pick up .2 to .3 tenths because my stock tranny sliping. I want to be able to run 7.5 @ 94 to 95 on a decent air day.
I can't answer the question on the shift kit but I can say that I zeroed out my shift time table (number of seconds it takes the transmission to shift) and I have my max line pressure set at 86 psi. I've had the tranny for a couple months now and when it was new it hit real hard going from park to drive and also the 1-2 shift felt like someone was kicking the back of my seat but now the tranny is broke in and it's starting to shift smoother, it still hits hard just not neck breaking.
Call and ask on the question of included shift kit, but I don't believe you should do both the increased line pressure AND a shift kit. It's usually one or the other, not both.
I saw the new C6 coupe yesterday, here in DFW, for the first time. Nice...but didn't blow me away like I was thinking it might.
I'm keeping my C5(too many $$$ in mods to turn back now), but may get the C6 for the wife(that way, I get to drive it on the weekends if I want).
They do install the shift kit. Mine shifts just fine - I think the 'soft' converter and shift kit cancel out pretty well. Now that I have several months of driving on it I honestly don't notice it at all unless full throttle. I get a 1-2 chirp more often part throttle than I used to on the stocker. Good luck.
Hey - how do you like that big cam in your A4 - would you recommend it for a daily city driver now that you have had it for while? Any stalling, surging, etc? Any perceived loss of low end off-throttle response (low end torque)? thanks.

I bought HP tuners and have my idle as good as it can get. Every once in a while I get surging going from drive to park. Other than that, rock solid at 925 with no ac and 975 with the ac on. I dont know if I would recommend it for a everyday driver (15 mpg includes some highway miles) plus it can drink gas when I go WOT a couple times during a tank, I get less than 10 mpg.
I cant wait for the new tranny, I get tired of crappy shifts. It would bang the rev limiter and grab at 5000 rpm then slip at 5400 rpm and so on... I bet with the new tranny, I will run 11.3-11.5 at 120 and dyno higher also. I am ordering it today.
No line pressure via PCM.. It uses a vacuum modulator for pressure.
Ditto on the pressure.
Plus you will love the tranny. We only used ours for the San Antonio Shootout and one Hallsville race, but we banged the heck out of it and it never whimpered. You will be happy with it.
BTW, Jeff made the necessary runs for his NHRA Competition license at Ennis Sunday. One of his full runs was 8.403 @ 159.57 mph. Two other full runs were also 8.4's @ 159.xx mph. He says it is a real rush.

Thats for the confidence!
I am assuming that the shift pressure in HPtuners table will no longer be used since the mechanial pressure sensor. What about the shift speed table? Also they include the shift kit with 2 washers, I am getting old and dont want the thing to break my neck. Should I request a softer setting or should I be a man. How hard does it hit on the first to second shift at part throttle.
my flp trans install at a+a corvettes was setup by Andy and engine dynotuned slightly rich for my nitrous. it shifts quick and fairly smooth.when i run on the street with my predator program i set the trans shift time 25% faster and it shifts noticably quicker.now i have to get a custom tune for my predator so i can adjust the trans on my nitrous tune.
You do not use line pressure. It gets it's boost from your (brake) booster . WOT" it kicks like a mule but under normal driving it gives light but quick shifts that you will enjoy Your time slips will tell the difference if your tranny has been slipping.
