gear swap question
i'm trying to find a gear differential to swap out in my car...i currently have a A4 with 2:73's...will a 3:42 setup from a 6 speed bolt up to it?...one of the corvette salvage yards told me they wouldn't...thanks

I have a 1998 C5 I recently supercharged with A4. I had to get my A4 rebuilt to handle power and took a 3:42 out of a trashed 02 Z06 and it fit fine.....no problems. Not sure who told you it would not fit but they don't know much. You will have no problem. Do not try to put 3.42 gears in your 2.73 carrier as it looks like it will work with a spacer but trust me it will not hold long. Hope this helps you.

thanks for the info guys.....i was checking thru my e-mail...it was www.corvettesalvage.com that told me it wouldn't....now all i need to do is find me a 3:42 differential....
