Paint Problems
In short, I bought a 2000 silver C5 ragtop. A month after owning some wonderful women backed into my front bumber cracking it. I took the car to a Corvette Restoration shop know nationally. They replaced the front bumper cover and so far they have painted it 3 time and it still doesn't match. They used Dupont paint and I think the clear coat is darkening the color as well as the metallic int eh paint does not lay down as well as the rest of the car. It was my understanding that GM uses PPG paint products and have heard that the clear does not darken as much. He really did not want to blend the fender and hood as the paint on the rest of the car is perfect and it only has 12,000 miles. Any ideas or suggestions would be helpful. They are going to paint it one more time on Mon. before having to blend and I really would like it back to the condition I bough it in.
