i was looking for 1999 frc then i noticed i could have a zo6 for 5000 more, with a little more research i discoverd the ring problem so i blew right over that idea. now im curious to know has anyone found reacuring engineering or mechanical flaws in in the 1999 frc engine or otherwise. any enlightning comments appreciated.

What year was the Z06 and what ring problem are you referring to that would apply to a Z06 but not an earlier coupe? I'd do some more checking before passing on the Z06, if you don't have a problem with the way they look (fugly). PCV valve is a big part of the oil consumption issue on pre-2002 vettes, not impossible to upgrade, switch to 10-30 alone eliminated any oil consuption concerns on my 2000 coupe. Column lock and skitzo gas gauge are the most common problems, column lock bypass is now a safety recall so free fix even if out of warranty. Clutch pedal sticking to the floor after extended high rpm run seems to be a potential problem on anthing prior to 2002 I think. Since mine's a 2000 I'm not an expert on earlier models but that's my 2 cents.
