Complicated problem! New 145A alternator, Since car was new: Clock looses time ( 2 - 4 hours at a time once in awhile), Headlights dim occasionally (dashboard reads 12.5-12.9 volts), normally dashboard reads 13.5 - 13.9 volts. Since the ATI install, dashboard shows 1 volt less than the reading at the battery, ie. 12.2 - 12.9, vs 13.2 -13.9. NOT THE PULLEYS per FLP. Burning out electric fuel pumps on a regular basis (they can not tollerate anything below 12.25v for more than 5 min. per mfg.). FLP to check out the various ground staps.
WEIGH IN IF YOU HAVE EXPERIENCED A SIMILAR SITUATION!!!!!!!!
Ive seen as low as 12.6 on the DIC, when the bass hits, and the lights dim. I havent had any of the other issues you describe. If there is a way to correct this i would be interested as well.

A corroded ground is always a good possibility with voltage drop. Also check the connections going away from the battery. In case FLP doesn't have the ground diagram you can downlad my copy at:
1.) Check to make sure the alt pulley isn't slipping in the belt track.
2.) Make sure the alt isn't grounding out internally through one of the stator windings. (Alt test to verify)
3.) The problem started after the ATI install. Or after some time with the ATI install?
I think the problem has been there since the car was new!
Its just that now I have an electric fuel pump that is sensitive
to LOW VOLTAGE. WHO KNEW???????????????????????????

I stopped by FLP today to see how the "Voltage Mystery" was going
and Chuck queried some Dealer Vette Techs and found that numerous vette owners have complained about the headlight dimming situation and so far nobody has come up with a valid, proveable reason for the dimming situation, so I guess I am not alone with this problem. The dimming situation may not be related to the voltage drop at the fuel pump so the search effort goes on!!
Mine does it too..... Sometimes when I hit the brakes other times when I am just cruising along... It gets a little annoying... But I have to let her go to the dealership for a new fuel sending unit covered under warranty... But I was told told I have to find a dealership that does does body work to replace it...Sounds weird I will have to take a look underneath and see why....
If you jump your car, or someone elses car with yours, it causes the solenoid in the alternator to crap out. Took me three alternators to figure it out. Thank god for the warrenty
