My A/C , vent etc blows stinky air when you first turn it on. Extremely humid
musty air blows out of the vents. Reeeeeks bad. Any way to fix this? I tried lysol into the intake with no results.
I had a similar issue on my 99 a few years ago, my local Cheby dealer fixed it using the guidance found in a TSB. One of the things that the TSB changes is it allows the HVAC blower to operate for 20 or 30 seconds after the car is shut off to help DRY out the system. The smell never came back and my car suffered no side effects from the TSB.

There are several different brands of aftermarket aerosol sprays being offered for this problem too. I've tried the one made by Interdynamics as a pump spray. It works well and has no flowery scent at all. The only drawback I've noticed is that over time (3 or 4 months), the musty smell starts to come back. I think that how often anyone would need to re-apply this would be determined by the humidity levels where they live though. HTH

I don't have a stinky A/C problem with any of my other vehicles. Maybe cause
the Vette isn't a daily driver?
Nah, maybe 'cause the Vette's a/c system is designed so that there's someplace where the condensation pools and doesn't entirely drain out. I've had the warranty work done on my car for this - it helps but doesn't solve the problem entirely (I'm allergic to mold, so my sinuses clog up if there's any around). The downside to the warranty work: your a/c fan will come on spontaneously for a couple of minutes for quite a while (i.e., even several days) after the car is turned off. This is guaranteed to freak you out if you've got the car on jack stands and are working under it. One thing that seems to help to keep the mold gone is to turn the fan on high with the a/c off for about 20 or 30 seconds before you shut the car down if it's at all muggy.

You raise a good point that I had forgotten about. At the end of a drive/trip or whatever, I will shut off the A/C, turn the blower to high, then turn the temp all the way up for the last minute or so just prior to shutting her off for the day. I put the mode switch in the "outside air" position when I do this. This does also seem to help as far as drying out the HVAC ductwork, etc.
