Default Question regarding cam install

When a cam is installed, do they work down throug hteh engine (remove manifold, then heads, etc...) or do they have to remove the radiator etc... and then be able to work on the engine?

You have to pull the radiator and the front of the engine to stab the cam in and out.

Also, the intake needs to come off to get to the lifters. You do not have to pull the heads unless you are doing the head/cam swap.

Actually, the heads need to come off to get to the lifters but not to the cam. The heads and intake can stay on for a cam-only swap though. You do, however, need to pull the rockers and pushrods to hold the lifters up to keep them from dropping when you pull the cam. Got to http://ls1howto.com/index.php?articl...be3d7e9f70e05f and check out the cam/spring swap on an f-body. It's virtually the same on a C5.

You don't need to pull the heads or intake. We used a valve compression tool that fit in the spark plug hole and blew air in to lift the valves.

xc4champ... love the nassau blue FRC =) I was about to buy one before I found a killer deal on the Z06.

Also, w/ the C5 you have to drop the power steering rack to do the work.
