Default will not start,just a relay click...help!

When I turn the key the starter doesn't turn over,I just hear a relay click. I tried jump starting it, no luck. Is it possible the starter went bad. Or are there other relays that should be energized. Just asking for some advice. thanks to all.

Sounds like a dead battery. How many miles?

Keep an eye on the alternator...if the battery died then it might have dragged the alternator along with it.

I had this problem happen back in june of this year. And very similiar problem, after a few days went by the car started. So off to the dealership i went for help, they replaced the battery and said the starter seemed to be ok also. So this battery is only a few months old,but it may have failed due to the very short driving distance I go to work. Maybe its not getting a good charge. So I will call the dealership to see if they will prorate the ac-delco battery for a replacement. Thanks for all of your replies.

There was an old post about faulty wiring harnesses in '98 models. Mine did as you describe. The dealer had the car for a week where they installed a new battery, checked grounds and other things that GM advised with no luck then the mechanic removed my add ons at the pigtail in the passenger footwell; the car started! After two weeks the car wouldn't start again. I untaped and retaped the wiring harness under the console then moved it more toward the passenger side so the console didn't pinch it when installed. This was the solution to the starting problem. The live feed to the console power socket is in this harness and is fed from the body control computer so a short can cause a no start condition. It's been two years and the car has been starting fine. Also, all add ons are now tapped off the battery with a dedicated fuse block; the pigtail only activates a solid state relay for ignition loads such as the radar detector so no add ons are connected to the body computer.
