Default Questions about.....getting blown

Well its about that time to get one of Andys sc kits but I have a question about what I should do about the valvetrain. Apparently, with some minor work, the stock ls1 heads are worthy for sc'ing. But, I was just wondering if it was worth the time to get a set of z06 heads and beef them up a bit? And throw a blower cam in while im at it. What kind of gain would I see over the ls1's? Also planning on some lg lt's and and z06 intake mani. Thanks in advance. Darroch Malone

I would keep your LS1 heads and upgrade your valve springs -- I went with the Comp 918's. The Z06 heads will raise your compression - something you really don't need to do. As for the blower cam, that may very well put you over the edge as far as your stock bottom-end is concerned. If you are going with a forged bottom-end I would say do the blower cam and a good set of heads.

Are you doing the P1SC or the D1SC?

Cheers,

Mark

Well, I really may be going about this the wrong way. What would make the most sense, the more I think about it, would be to get good clutch setup, and a forged bottom end. Then when sc is able to be brought in, bring the blower cam in at that time. In the mean time, when the forged bottom end goes in, I could beef up the stock ls1 valvetrain and toss on a z06 intake manifold. Throw the lg's on at the same time. Then when the time comes, the sc will pretty much be a bolt on application with nothing else needed.

Glad we could straighten this out.

I really do appreciate all the help you guys give. What do you think about the above???

I think I would go with the blower first. If you are worried about the bottom end you could always forge and do your head and cam later at the same time. I can't say that I disagree with the clutch or driveline upgrades, but the stock bottom end should be able to handle the P-series procharger or S-trim Vortech easily. If you are thinking D or F procharger then better to play it safe and Forge it first. I've got a stock bottom end, stock clutch, S-trim with Stage 2 AA heads and a reasonable cam been running this for 4 months with no problems at all with Pilot sport tires. (but no launches over 2500 rpms).

Now do what everone else does and call one of the two guys that all the rest of us call for advice about blowers

Call Chris at ECS, they just finished my car and it is very similar to what you are talking about doing. I did forge the bottom, installed the blower, blower Cam, headers and clutch. The stock LS1 heads are still on my car and I am making 574RWHP and 675HP at the flywheel. See the sig and ECS does great work

Very, very nice and similiar to what I am looking for. ECS not too far away either. Would you mind pm'ing me some of ECS's prices for your parts and labor? Thanks, Darroch Malone
